Why would you want to bulk unfollow twitter users?

Twitter allows you to follow a maximum of 2000 users; after this number, it applies some secret formula based on how many followers you have to determine how many more users you can follow.

If you rely on content from Twitter accounts you follow to keep you informed on a topic or to create an online magazine (e.g. The Social Media Marketing Digest), following inactive accounts is counter-productive and a waste of a limited resource.

This is where UnTweeps comes in really handy.  It allows you to find accounts that haven’t posted in X number of days (you determine the amount of days) and quickly unfollow them. UnTweeps is a free tool to bulk unfollow twitter accounts, although there is a low-cost, no-commitment option if you have lots of Twitter accounts.  I think it allows you to check 3 for free.

UnTweeps also allows you to search for Twitter users to follow, based on keywords and location.  From my limited experience with this particular tool, I would say that it’s not the most reliable for bulk following.  There are others out there that allow you to bulk follow 100 or so users, the main one being FlashTweet, but this has now changed to Brandchirp and is no longer free.

The bulk unfollow twitter accounts feature that UnTweeps was, presumably, originally created for, however, is outstanding. Really simple to use, free, and quick.
